Florida Department of Law Enforcement
HomePatrol
The Capitol Police Patrol Section is composed of dedicated men and women committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for elected officials, state employees, and visitors throughout the Capitol Complex and its associated facilities.
Patrol personnel provide comprehensive law enforcement and security services through a consistent and highly visible uniformed presence at the Capitol Building, the Holland Building, the Pepper Building, and the Capitol Circle Office Center (CCOC). These services are delivered through active and directed patrols, staffed security checkpoints, and random inspections designed to deter criminal activity, identify security concerns, and ensure the continued safety of all individuals within the Capitol Complex.
In addition to daily patrol responsibilities, the Patrol Section supports high‑profile events that require enhanced law enforcement presence and coordinated security operations. This includes major public gatherings, dignitary visits, and large‑scale events such as college football games, concerts, and other activities that attract significant crowds and may present elevated security considerations. Patrol personnel assist partner agencies by providing uniformed support, situational awareness, and operational coordination to help maintain a safe environment for attendees.
The Patrol Section also conducts traffic enforcement operations throughout the Capitol Complex, the Capitol Circle Office Center (CCOC), and, when appropriate, in support of statewide initiatives. These efforts promote safe travel, ensure compliance with traffic laws, and enhance overall mobility and safety for employees, visitors, and the surrounding community.
Through their professionalism, visibility, and commitment to public service, the men and women of the Patrol Section play a vital role in safeguarding Florida’s seat of government and supporting the mission of Capitol Police.
