Brett Pleasant found guilty of second-degree murder in death of Jo Ann Leasure | 12/20/2021
“I would like to say thank you for the opportunity to work with Lauren Tirollo on the Brett Pleasant investigation. As the lead detective for the investigation, I can say this was initially a very hard case to work on. We conducted an extensive scene processing and canvass of the area surrounding the scene, but were left with no real leads in this case. This appeared to be a complete stranger committing a complete random act of violence. This case I can say was solved by Lauren Tirollo, for the processing as well as subsequent identification of Brett Pleasant. If not for the processing that she performed, this subject would not have been identified as fast as he was. Yes, additional DNA evidence assisted in the successful prosecution in this case. It was the latent work that truly solved this case. This morning, Brett Pleasant was sentenced to life in prison for the murder. I wanted to take a moment and extend my gratitude for Lauren’s work, that she did on this case.”
