Inspector General Lourdes Howell-Thomas

It is the mission of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) to assist the Department of Law Enforcement by providing timely and professional auditing, consulting, and review services; and promoting accountability, integrity, economy, efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s divisions, services and activities.

In 1994, the Inspector General Act was passed in the state of Florida. Section 20.055, Florida Statutes (F.S.), establishes an Office of Inspector General in each state agency to provide a central point for coordination of and responsibility for activities that promote accountability, integrity, and efficiency in government. Our mission is to provide timely and professional auditing, consulting, and review services that promote accountability, integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness in the Department.
