FDLE: Lehigh Acres man indicted on capital child sexual battery, related charges

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Following a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) investigation, Jeremy Brian Brumbaugh, 21, of Lehigh Acres, was transferred from federal custody to state custody to face four capital felony counts of sexual battery on a child less than 12 years of age, two felony counts of lewd or lascivious molestation and one felony count of sexual activities with animals.
 
A Florida grand jury indicted Brumbaugh on March 5, 2024. At the time of the indictment, Brumbaugh faced trial for federal charges by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida. On March 25, 2025, Brumbaugh was taken into the custody of the State of Florida to face the charges resulting from FDLE’s criminal investigation.
 
The FDLE Fort Myers cybercrime unit is investigating the case. The case is being prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit.
