BAY COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) announces the arrest of Scott Alexander Sanders, 52, of Dothan, Alabama, for grand theft. Sanders stole more than $350,000 from the victim’s construction payments.
The case began in March of 2024 after FDLE received information that Sanders misappropriated more than 75 percent of payments remitted to him for the construction of a new home. Sanders is the owner of Tatum and Associates, Inc., a custom home builder and remodeling contractor business in Marianna.
The investigation revealed that Sanders stole $351,366.42 from the victim, a retiree who paid Sanders to build her a new house. Sanders did not complete the construction and he ended all communications with the victim in December 2023.
He was arrested on Feb. 24, and booked into the Bay County Jail. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 14th Judicial Circuit.
The case is being investigated by the FDLE Panama City Field Office. The Jackson County and Bay County Sheriff’s Offices assisted. The investigation remains active.
