Monticello PD, FDLE: Lafayette County arrested man for murder

MONTICELLO, Fla. – The Monticello Police Department (MPD) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) announce the arrest of Roberto Luis Rodrigues, 34, for first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. The Lafayette County and Jefferson County sheriff’s offices assisted in the investigation.
 
The investigation began on April 13, 2024, after MPD requested FDLE’s forensic and investigative assistance with a death investigation. MPD located the victim, Lance Nealy, Sr., who had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
 
Through the investigative and legal processes, Rodrigues was identified as the suspect and an arrest warrant was issued on April 10, 2025.
 
On April 11, 2025, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rodrigues on a traffic stop. He was booked into the Lafayette County Jail without bond.
 
The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, Second Judicial Circuit.
 
The case is being jointly investigated by MPD and FDLE and remains active.
