FDLE arrests Escambia deputy for child sexual battery

PENSACOLA, Fla – Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents arrested Jerome Bernard Zaid, 33, of Pensacola, on charges of battery of a child and sexual battery of a child. At the time of his arrest, Zaid was employed as a deputy with Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
 
Agents believe Zaid victimized at least two children under the age of six, both of whom Zaid had frequent contact with.
 
The investigation is ongoing, and agents believe there may be additional victims. If anyone has information about Zaid, please call the Pensacola Regional Operations Center at 850-595-2100.
 
Zaid was arrested July 26 and booked into the Escambia County Jail on a no-bond status. The case will be prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office, First Judicial Circuit.
