FDLE arrests Lee County woman for stealing over $200,000 from bank client

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Fort Myers Regional Operations Center, Economic Crimes Squad on Monday arrested Altagracia Ortuno, 32, of Lehigh Acres, for grand theft over $100,000 and criminal use of personal identification information over $50,000; both first degree felonies.

Ortuno, a former bank teller for BMO-Harris Bank, Bonita Springs, used the personal identification information of a bank client to create fraudulent deposit slips and illegally withdraw approximately $201,000 from the client’s bank account over a period of 15 months. When the client reported the theft to the bank, Ortuno left the bank for personal reasons and was later terminated from the bank.

Ortuno was booked into the Lee County Jail. She will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit.
