ESTERO, Fla. - Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested David Levin, 31, of Estero, Florida, for three counts of unauthorized access of any computer, computer system, computer network, or electronic device, a third degree felony. Levin, the owner of Vanguard Cybersecurity, is accused of gaining unauthorized access to the Lee County Elections Office website on Dec. 19, 2015 and to the Department of State Division of Elections website on Jan. 4 and 31, 2016.

FDLE agents executed a search warrant at Levin’s home on Feb. 8, 2016 and recovered computers and other evidence used to facilitate the unauthorized access. Following forensic analysis of the computers and evidence seized along with statements from witnesses in this case, FDLE agents developed probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for Levin.

Levin turned himself in today to FDLE agents and was transported to the Lee County Jail.  He is being held on $15,000 bond. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit.
