Angela Starke appointed FDLE public information officer

ORLANDO, Fla. - Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Rick Swearingen is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Starke to the position of communications coordinator in Orlando and Tampa Bay FDLE regions. In this role, Ms. Starke will serve as a FDLE spokesperson and will be responsible for coordinating news releases, interviews, press conferences and internal communications in FDLE’s Orlando and Tampa Bay regions.
 
Ms. Starke has an extensive background in communications most recently serving as the public information officer for State Attorney Jeff Ashton. 
 
Before moving to Florida, she worked as the senior director of communications for the City of Knoxville and was an anchor with WVLT in Knoxville and a reporter with WJLA, the ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C. She was also a writer and copy editor for the Dallas Morning News, the Washington Post and USA Today. 
 
She holds B.A. degrees in both English and French from Spelman College.
