FDLE arrests former Gainesville FOP president for theft

For Immediate Release

November 24, 2015

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents arrested Jeffery McAdams, 52, the former president of the Gainesville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #67.  McAdams is charged with stealing more than $56,000 from the Gator Lodge between 2011 and April 2014.  McAdams had been the president for 14 years.

FDLE began its investigation in 2014 at the request of the Gainesville Police Department after questions concerning FOP expenses by McAdams who, as president, had sole control over the Lodge debit card.   Investigators believe McAdams stole thousands by double billing the FOP for travel expenses, spending money at restaurants and bars and purchasing gift cards that did not benefit the Gator Lodge.

McAdams turned himself in yesterday at Marion County Jail and has a $12,000 bond.

Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Office of Statewide Prosecution will prosecute this case.
