Search expands for escaped inmate Ronald McCoy

FLORIDA CITY, Fla. - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, with assistance from the Miami-Dade Police Department and the Florida Department of Corrections, continues to search for escaped inmate Ronald McCoy, 39. 
 
McCoy escaped from the Dade Correctional Institution in Florida City on Oct. 31, 2014.  McCoy was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of robbery with deadly weapon in Alachua County. He was also convicted of crimes in Putnam County and is believed to have family in the Tampa area.    
 
McCoy has a small scar on his neck and a tattoo on his left arm that says "Bicep Pysco." 
 
He has a violent past.  Anyone with information about McCoy is urged to contact 911.  Law enforcement should exercise caution.
