Orlando sex offender arrested for violating sex offender registration requirements

 
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Orlando Regional Operations Center Cyber/High-Tech Crime Task Force arrested registered sex offender William Henry Byrd, 54, 17833 E. Colonial Drive, Lot 30, Orlando, Fla., on 38 counts of sex offender violations: failed to comply with registrations requirements – failed to register email addresses/Instant Messenger screen names, a third degree felony.


The FDLE OROC Cyber/High-Tech Crime Task Force, comprised of task force agents from FDLE, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Oviedo, Winter Springs, and Altamonte Springs police departments and the Department of Homeland Security, received cyber tips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children related to complaints received from a social networking site alleging Byrd engaged in instant message chat conversations with other users about the sexual exploitation of children. 

Byrd was booked into the Orange County Correctional Facility on a $6,550 bond.  This case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 9th Judicial Circuit.
