For Immediate Release
October 24, 2013

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Office of Executive Investigations, arrested Anita DeBerry, 38, of Tallahassee, Fla., on one count of grand theft and one count of scheming to defraud after allegedly conspiring with a state contractor to have money put into her child support account.

The investigation began in August 2013 after the Department of Revenue identified suspicious transfers of funds by then DOR contract employee Lisa Dias from a DOR suspense account to the Electronic Payment Processing and Information Control (EPPIC) card of Anita DeBerry. Investigators allege that DeBerry and Dias conspired to have funds improperly posted to DeBerry’s account, with a portion of the stolen funds being “kicked back” to Dias.

DeBerry turned herself in this morning at the Leon County Jail and bond has been set at $3,000. A warrant has been issued for Dias.
