ZEPHYRHILLS - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center Cyber and High Tech Squad arrested Billy-Jim Herrington, 39, of Zephyrhills, Fla., for 25 counts of possession of child pornography, a third degree felony.

The Tampa Bay Cyber Crime Task Force, along with Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Largo Police Department, St. Petersburg Police Department and Department of Homeland Security’s Division of Homeland Security Investigations served a search warrant at Herrington’s home, located at 38114 7th Avenue, Zephyrhills, and located more than 27,000 child pornography videos during the preliminary investigation.  Investigators believe there could be more than 75,000 images of child pornography on a computer found in the home.

Herrington is a convicted sex offender and is listed on Florida’s sex offender registry. He was convicted of two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 16 in April 1995.   In addition to the possession of child pornography charges, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is also charging Herrington with failing to register an email address.

Herrington was arrested this morning without incident and booked into the Pasco County Jail.  The investigation will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 6th Judicial Circuit.
