Obtaining Criminal History Information



Effective July 1, 2020, FDLE will discontinue the use of Florida Criminal History Information Request forms via mail. For alternative electronic methods, visit Florida Criminal History Record Check.

State and national criminal history information is available to governmental agencies for licensing and employment as authorized under Florida law. For additional information, you may contact the agency that governs the type of employment in which you are interested. For example, if you are interested in working for an elementary school, you would contact the local school district; if you are interested in a concealed weapon permit, you would contact the Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services/Division of Licensing where this licensing occurs.

Florida Wanted Persons Search

The Public Access System (PAS) is designed to provide the public with the opportunity to assist law enforcement agencies in locating stolen property, missing persons and persons wanted in connection with ongoing investigations. It is not intended to be used for reporting property as stolen or persons as missing. Please contact your local law enforcement agency to report this kind of event.

Sex Offender Search

This information has been reported directly to FDLE by the Florida Department of Corrections, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and law enforcement officials. FDLE compiles and provides this information for public access and does not independently confirm the accuracy of the information. It is FDLE's desire that the information contained herein be accurate and reliable. Any person who believes information provided is not accurate should contact the FDLE Missing Persons and Offender Registration by phone at 1 (888) 357-7332 or by e-mail at sexpred@fdle.state.fl.us.

Personal Review

State and Federal laws offer individuals the right to request a copy of their criminal history record for the purposes of personal review and to ensure that it is complete and accurate.

This service cannot be used for immigration, employment, licensing or certification purposes.

CJIS NCJA Compliance and Training

Noncriminal justice organizations that receive criminal history information from FDLE as part of licensing or a background check process are required to comply with the FBI CJIS Security Policy (CSP). Within the CSP, Appendix J identifies the specific sections that must be followed. Depending on your agency’s business processes, some requirements may vary.



Florida Department of Law Enforcement Priorities

FDLE is composed of five areas: Executive Direction and Business Support, Criminal Investigations and Forensic Science, Criminal Justice Information, Criminal Justice Professionalism and Florida Capitol Police. FDLE’s duties, responsibilities and procedures are mandated through Chapter 943, FS, and Chapter 11, FAC.
