The 1994 Florida Inspector General Act (Section 20.055, Florida Statutes) established an Office of Inspector General (OIG) in each state agency to provide a central point for coordination of and responsibility for activities that promote accountability, integrity, and efficiency in government.
The FDLE OIG mission is to provide timely and professional auditing, investigation, evaluation, and consulting services that promote transparency, accountability and integrity in Department services and programs. The OIG also deters, detects, and investigates allegations of fraud, waste or abuse within or against the Department.
The OIG is composed of 24 positions divided into two sections: Audits, Investigations and Accountability.
The Customer Complaints Unit, under the Investigations Section is the clearinghouse to receive complaints and issues related to FDLE services, its members, and allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse within FDLE. The Unit coordinates with the regions and divisions for assistance with responses and resolution of complaints.
Complaints may be filed by phone, in person, or by email.
FDLE is composed of five areas: Executive Direction and Business Support, Criminal Investigations and Forensic Science, Criminal Justice Information, Criminal Justice Professionalism and Florida Capitol Police. FDLE’s duties, responsibilities and procedures are mandated through Chapter 943, FS, and Chapter 11, FAC.
