The Florida Missing Children's Day Foundation (FMCDF) is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit corporation, established in 2008 pursuant to Florida Statute (F.S.) 683.231. The purpose of the FMCDF is to provide assistance, funding, and promotional support for activities authorized for Florida Missing Children's Day (FMCD) designated on the second Monday of September each year per Section 683.23 F.S.
The FMCDF is tasked with providing funding and promotional support for FMCD and education in remembrance of Florida's past and present missing children and in recognition of the state's efforts to protect the safety of children through prevention, education and community involvement.The FMCDF relies on it's sponsors and donations to fund FMCD. FMCD is not a state or federally funded event. FDLE provides administrative support to the FMCDF and does not solicit or collect donations on their behalf. All donation inquiries need to go through the main
FMCDF website or staff.
In partnership with FDLE, the Foundation supports the education of the public through safety fairs around the state. FDLE staff attend safety fairs upon request to promote missing person issues, child safety practices, education and safety resources, and education about sexual offenders/predators. The Foundation incurs the cost for some of the safety information and materials distributed to the public for education.
FMCDF is a citizen support organization and is required by Section 20.058, F.S., to submit and post specific information related to the non-profit's contact information, statatutory authority, description of their mission and future plans, their code of ethics, and their most recent tax information.
