Governor DeSantis’ Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Floridians First Budget Reinforces Florida’s Standing as a Law and Order State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) today commended Governor Ron DeSantis’ 2026-2027 Floridians First budget proposal, which prioritizes public safety and strengthens support for law enforcement. The proposal reflects the Governor’s unwavering commitment to ensuring Florida’s law enforcement officers have the resources, training, and technology needed to safeguard our communities, while affirming the state’s dedication to backing its officers and the vital work they do.

“Governor Ron DeSantis’ budget proposal demonstrates a clear commitment to protecting every corner of our state,” said Commissioner Mark Glass. “By prioritizing public safety, he is ensuring that law enforcement officers have the support and resources they need to meet today’s challenges and prepare for tomorrow’s. Florida will continue to set the standard as one of the best places in America to serve as a law enforcement officer, reinforcing our reputation as a true law‑and‑order state.”

Governor DeSantis’ Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Floridians First budget includes:

  • $899,216 and additional staff for illegal alien detection and crime suppression, as well as a funding boost to enhance monitoring and response to emerging criminal threats.
  • $15 million for the fourth year of the State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication (S.A.F.E.) to assist local law enforcement in the fight against fentanyl and narco-terrorism.
  • $5 million and 16 additional staff to expand officer wellness programs to support law enforcement mental health efforts.
  • $2.4 million to complete the modernization of the state’s critical Missing and Endangered Persons alert system. 
  • $1.5 million and eight positions for a unit dedicated to further assisting local law enforcement agencies in the monitoring of danger career offenders living in Florida communities. 
  • $1 million and four staff to combat cybercrimes and strengthen the cryptocurrency program within the Cyber Investigations and Telecommunication Enhancements division.
