In addition to issuing statewide alerts, MEPIC can also be a resource for local law enforcement agencies by providing analytical assistance with local missing persons cases.

What can MEPIC provide with an analytical assistance case?

A missing persons flyer that will be displayed on our public website.
Our analysts run periodic checks in databases and forward any leads they may find to the local agency of jurisdiction.

Can a citizen open an analytical case with MEPIC?

Yes, citizens can request analytical assistance cases as long as the missing person is entered into the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC).
If they are under the age of 26, MEPIC will send a missing person reporting form via email.
If they are 26 years of age or older, MEPIC must reach out to the local law enforcement agency to request permission to open a case.

Can law enforcement open an analytical assistance case with MEPIC?

Yes, law enforcement can request analytical assistance cases as long as the missing person is entered into the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC).
MEPIC will send a missing persons reporting form to the requestor via email.

Can MEPIC open an analytical assistance case for a person missing outside of the state of Florida?

If there is a reasonable belief that the missing person has traveled to Florida, an analytical assistance case must be requested by law enforcement.
The missing person must be entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
