The State Financial Assistance (SFA) Program provides funding to various recipients including local criminal justice agencies, institutions of higher education, and nonprofits as appropriated through statutory program language or through Florida's annual General Appropriations Act (GAA).
SFA projects and programs are funded in three ways: (1) the program is created through statutory language; (2) the funding is included in a legislative bill that was approved by the Governor; and (3) the program is included as a line item in the final budget approved by the Governor each year.
Criminal Justice Grants (CJG) administers state grants for pass-through to local law enforcement, criminal justice agencies, and some non-profits, as appropriated by the Florida Legislature. This program provides funding to agencies who have submitted project requests to the House and/or Senate and have received an appropriation in the annual General Appropriations Act (GAA) signed by the Governor.
This program provides funding to handlers/adopters of canines that retired from service at a law enforcement or correctional agency under Section 943.69, Florida Statutes.
This program provides reimbursement to local law enforcement agencies for participation in regional Electronic Surveillance Support Teams.
This program provides funding to support local law enforcement agencies with the investigation of personal identification information theft and fraud under Section 943.0412, Florida Statutes.
This program provides funding to local Sheriff's Offices for the reimbursement of salaries and tuition for eligible deputy sheriff trainees. Funding priority will be given to Sheriff's Offices located in fiscally-constrained counties and trainees who are being sponsored through law enforcement academy.
This program provides funding to support salary increases for deputy sheriffs and correctional officers employed by sheriff's offices or boards of county commissioners in fiscally constrained counties, as defined in Section 218.67(1), Florida Statutes.
The Local Firearm Safety Training Program, established under Chapter 2023‑18, Section 37, was not funded for Fiscal Year 26–27. As a result, no awards will be issued during this funding cycle.
This program provides funding to five locally funded crime laboratories (Broward, Indian River, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Pinellas) pursuant to Sections 943.32 and 943.35, Florida Statutes.
