To ensure validity, the exam questions:

• are taken directly from the basic recruit training curriculum.
• are written by FDLE members and external Subject Matter Experts.
• are reviewed by Subject Matter Experts prior to inclusion on an exam.
• are field tested until the item performs appropriately.
• will not contain an “all of the above / none of the above” answer option.

Field Testing

All examinations contain experimental or “field” test questions. Field test questions expand and improve the bank of questions from which future examinations will be developed. This is a common practice used by national and state examination programs and is a critical step in ensuring the continued validity of the examinations.

Field test questions will NOT be counted when computing the test score. The time allowed for testing has been evaluated to ensure that there is adequate time for completing test questions and field test questions during the allotted examination time.

The following questions are generic and are provided only as examples of question format.
