FDLE Investigative Special Agents are sworn officers with statewide authority to investigate and enforce Florida’s criminal laws. Special Agents assist the state’s criminal justice community by providing a variety of services including: identifying and investigating organized and multi-jurisdictional crimes; enhancing domestic security preparedness; collecting and disseminating criminal intelligence information; investigating public corruption; seizing illegally obtained assets; dismantling drug trafficking organizations; assisting in locating missing children; and providing protective services to Florida’s Governor and other dignitaries.
Eligibility: To be eligible for an Investigative Special Agent position, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen; at least 19 years of age; of good moral character; possess and maintain throughout employment a valid Florida driver’s license; possess a high school diploma/GED; and not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four years of sworn law enforcement experience; and
- Two of which must be sworn criminal investigative.
Preference will be given to applicants who:
- are currently certified law enforcement officers in the State of Florida.
- possess specialized skills that meet a need within the department.
- are willing to relocate anywhere in the state.
- are fluent in a foreign language.
Selected applicants will be required to sign an employment training reimbursement agreement.

This position is classified as Special Risk retirement, which provides eligible members a greater retirement credit accrual rate and requires fewer years of service to reach full retirement benefits than is required for non-Special Risk members.
