FDLE arrests 19 in Operation Safe Summer

ORLANDO, Fla. - Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, along with the Florida Department of Corrections Office of Community Corrections and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19 sexual offenders for various violations of probation charges and one offender for possession of child pornography.

The focus of Operation Safe Summer was to partner with Department of Corrections, Office of Community Corrections, to conduct digital device compliance checks on sex offenders and predators on probation within Orange County.

Operation Safe Summer was a three phase operation.  During the first phase, FDLE Agents and Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputies examined cell phones and tablets owned by offenders as they met with probation officers during regularly scheduled monthly meetings. In the next phase, agents and deputies accompanied probation officers during unscheduled in-home probation visits.

The final phase of Operation Safe Summer included a public safety and educational component.  On June 17, FDLE Agents held safety presentations for children attending the XL Soccer World summer camp in Orlando and on June 26, computer crimes training was provided to law enforcement participants attending the Central Florida Regional CART meeting.
