FY24-25 Local Firearm Safety Training Program (LFSTP)

Overview
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) received authority to administer $1.5 Million for the Local Firearm Safety Training Program (LFSTP) under Chapter 2023-18, Section 37. Funding received under this program must be used for the development, expansion, or instruction of firearms safety training classes hosted by law enforcement agencies for the general public. 

The issuance of awards under this program is contingent upon appropriation of funding by the Legislature. In the event the appropriation is discontinued upon execution of the General Appropriations Act, this solicitation, and all applications received, will be rescinded.

***Sworn training initiatives and sworn training equipment are not eligible for funding under this program***
 
Eligibility

This program is open to local law enforcement agencies within the State of Florida.
 

Program Requirements

Award recipients are required to provide a minimum of four (4) firearms safety training classes to the general public by June 30, 2025.
 

Project Period

Grants are awarded for a 12-month period, beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025.

How to Apply

Funds for this program will be awarded on a first come, first served basis dependent on the receipt of a complete application packet. FDLE will continue issuing awards until all available funding is allocated. An application is not considered complete until all four of the following documents have been received:

  1. An LFSTP application packet;
  2. A corresponding budget detail worksheet;
  3. A comprehensive lesson plan; and
  4. A proposed training schedule.
