FDLE: Maine man arrested for transmission of harmful material to minor

PORTLAND, Maine – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) announces the arrest of Jeremy Trufant, 43, of Portland, Maine, on seven counts of transmission of harmful material to a minor and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The arrest is a result of FDLE’s statewide initiative to locate and arrest criminals targeting children and sharing files depicting the sexual abuse of children.
FDLE Jacksonville's investigation began on Oct. 16, 2025 when agents conducted an undercover chat operation and identified an adult male who was sending explicit messages, images and videos to an agent posing as a juvenile. Investigators identified the male as Trufant.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Trufant and on Jan. 29, 2026, Trufant was arrested by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in Portland, Maine. He was booked into the Cumberland County Detention Facility and will be extradited to Florida.
The case is being prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office of the First Judicial Circuit.
The investigation remains active.
