FDLE Arrests Two Southwest Florida Men for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Horace Johnson, 48, of Fort Myers, and Christopher Turpin, 38, of Naples, on 10 counts each of possession of child sexual abuse material. Johnson is also charged with one count of sexual activity involving animals. These arrests are the result of FDLE’s statewide initiative to locate and arrest criminals targeting children and sharing files depicting the sexual abuse of children.
The investigation into Johnson’s crimes began July 23, when FDLE agents conducted an online investigation and determined Johnson was downloading child sexual abuse material.
On Aug. 20, FDLE agents, the FDLE Special Operations Team (SOT), and the Fort Myers Police Department conducted a search warrant at Johnson’s residence. Agents seized multiple electronic devices and electronic storage devices. A digital forensic analysis identified numerous files depicting the sexual abuse of children, as well as a file depicting the sexual abuse of animals.
On Sept. 15, FDLE agents arrested Johnson and transported him to the Lee County Jail.
The investigation into Turpin’s crimes began on July 2 when FDLE agents conducted an online investigation and determined Johnson was downloading CSAM.
On Aug. 12, FDLE agents, the FDLE SOT and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at Turpin’s residence and seized numerous electronic devices for further digital forensic analysis.
On Sept. 16, FDLE arrested Turpin and transported to the Collier County Jail.
Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution is prosecuting both cases.
Both investigations remain active.
