FDLE, SJSO: 19 arrested in Operation Unified Watch

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Inspectors, agents and analysts with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) partnered with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the Saint Augustine Police Department and the Florida Department of Corrections to conduct Operation Unified Watch, resulting in 19 arrests.   

The four-day operation targeted registered sexual offenders and predators residing in St. Johns County to identify subjects who were failing to comply with their mandatory reporting requirements outlined in Florida’s registration laws.

During the investigation, contact was made with 207 suspects in St. Johns County. Nineteen arrests were made, including two sexual predators and 17 sexual offenders.

36 additional arrest warrants are pending, including, two sexual offenders identified as Joseph Vanderbush and Jack Faria, who were confirmed to have absconded from their residence when investigators were conducting address checks. Vanderbush was subsequently located and arrested in Levy County on October 2. Faria remains at large.
 

The 19 suspects face charges including failure to report for registration, failure to obtain a Florida driver’s license/identification card, and failure to properly report changes to employment, vehicles, email addresses, and internet identifiers.

 

FDLE’s Missing Persons and Offender Enforcement Division partners with sheriff’s offices, police departments and federal law enforcement across Florida to verify compliance with Florida’s registration laws requiring sex offenders and predators to report to their local sheriff’s office and provide information including residential addresses, telephone numbers, vehicle information, internet identifiers, photograph, passport and conviction information.
