October 1, 2025

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Shane Thomas Stahl, 37, of Lehigh Acres, on one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stahl was also charged with 14 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, second-degree felonies. This arrest is the result of FDLE’s statewide initiative to locate and arrest criminals targeting children and sharing files depicting the sexual abuse of children.

FDLE’s investigation began on September 11 when agents conducted an online investigation on a peer-to-peer file-sharing platform and identified a user downloading multiple files depicting the sexual abuse of children. Investigators identified the user as Stahl.

On September 25, FDLE agents conducted a search warrant at Stahl’s residence and seized multiple devices for forensic analysis. Additionally, agents located methamphetamine in plain view. After obtaining an additional search warrant, agents seized the substance and arrested Stahl on drug possession charges.

On September 30, agents filed 14 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material while Stahl was still in the Lee County Jail.

The case is being prosecuted by Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.

The case remains active.
