TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Jacksonville Regional Operations Center is investigating a fatal law enforcement officer-involved shooting that occurred in Gainesville.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on November 6, while serving an FDLE arrest warrant for making threats to a Tallahassee synagogue, members of a U.S. Marshals Task Force were engaged in an officer-involved shooting with the suspect. The suspect, Ali Ihsan Bayhan, of Gainesville, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On November 5, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to reports of a bomb threat at Temple Israel in Tallahassee. After a search, it was determined no explosives were found.

On November 6, in a coordinated effort between TPD and FDLE, it was decided the FDLE Tallahassee Regional Operations Center would assume the investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Bayhan.

Both investigations remain active and ongoing.
