FDLE arrests suspect in Gretna homicide

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Jacquez Shakur Oneal, 22, of Tallahassee, on one count of first-degree murder, a first-degree felony. Oneal is the suspect in the homicide in Gretna on October 21. 

  

The investigation began on Oct. 21 when the Gretna Police Department contacted FDLE to investigate a homicide in Gretna. A vehicle parked in the front yard of a residence was shot at, and the victim sitting inside the vehicle was struck by gunfire. The victim died as a result of the gunshot wounds. 

 

Further investigation revealed the shooter, later identified as Oneal, had opened fire on the vehicle and fled the scene. 

 

Oneal was arrested on Nov. 4 without incident. The Gretna Police Department assisted with the investigation.

 

The State Attorney’s Office of the Second Judicial Circuit is prosecuting the case.

 

The investigation remains active.
