December 16, 2025

OXFORD, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Brent Wells, 35, of Oxford, on charges of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and possession of animal sexual abuse materials.

The investigation began on Dec. 3 when FDLE received a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) cyber tip regarding an upload of CSAM on SnapChat, a popular social communication application. Further investigation identified Wells as the owner of the account.

A search warrant was conducted on the suspect’s personal device where media files depicting the sexual abuse of children were revealed. Additional files were identified depicting a person and an animal engaged in sexual activity.

Wells was arrested on Dec. 5 on 12 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials and two counts of possession of animal pornography. He was booked into the Sumter County Jail with no bond.

The case will be prosecuted by Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.

The investigation remains active.
