Law enforcement arrests 26 in sex offender sweep

ORLANDO –Twenty-six were arrested as part of a month-long sweep to locate sex offenders charged with committing crimes against children in Central Florida. 
 

“This was a month-long enforcement effort that included representatives of numerous state, local and federal law enforcement agencies across Central Florida area.  Each of these agencies helped make this a successful operation and we will continue to work together to aggressively pursue criminals and sex offenders who prey upon Central Florida’s children,,” said FDLE Orlando Regional Operations Center Special Agent in Charge Danny Banks.  “The operation was timed in conjunction with Florida’s Missing Children’s Day, which is today, to emphasize our continued fight to increase safety for our children.  I urge citizens to sign up for AMBER and Missing Child Alerts to join the team effort to keep our children safe.”
 
During the past month, FDLE Orlando Regional Operations Center’s investigative analytical support unit gathered information on specific sex offenders who were either wanted for sex crimes against children or who failed to register their addresses with local law enforcement as required under Florida law. 
 
FDLE Orlando coordinated with various law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest the individuals including U.S. Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Indian River, Lake, Volusia, Pinellas and Martin County Sheriffs’ Offices and Deland, Orlando, Hollywood and Kissimmee Police Departments.
