ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Justin Allen White, 46, of Tallahassee, on multiple criminal mischief arrest warrants. White was wanted by FDLE, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) for vandalizing several downtown Tallahassee properties and structures, including law enforcement vehicles.
The criminal investigation was initiated on Feb. 12, after a suspect spraypainted profanities around the perimeter of the Capitol Complex, including elevated concrete pillars, sidewalks, and walls, as well as the intersection of Monroe and Jefferson Street and the Leon County Courthouse. The investigation was a joint effort, and multiple agencies, including ours, were made aware of the vandalism.
Because the damage was made on properties in the jurisdictions of multiple law enforcement agencies, Capitol Police, LCSO, TPD and the Capital Region Real-Time Crime Center all coordinated investigative efforts and White was identified as the suspect. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for cell phone data records, which led to the development of arrest warrants.
FDLE Capitol Police Colonel Seth Montgomery said, “In less than 10 hours, the vandal was identified because of the strong law enforcement relationships and infrastructure we have in Leon County. I commend the Capitol Police investigators, Leon County Sheriff and Tallahassee Police detectives, and our law enforcement partners at the Real Time Crime Center for their collaboration and help in quickly identifying the suspect.”
Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil said, “This case is a great example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together. Through seamless coordination and information sharing, we were able to quickly identify and locate the suspect responsible for defacing public property. Protecting our communities is a team effort, and I commend the dedication of all the agencies involved in bringing this case to a swift resolution."
Arrests warrants were issued by FDLE, LCSO and TPD. White was located in Atlantic Beach yesterday. He was arrested by FDLE with the Atlantic Beach Police Department’s assistance and booked into the Duval County Jail without incident.
