LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Michael Durshimer, 31, of Land O’Lakes, on three felony counts each for traveling to meet a minor for sex and lewd or lascivious battery, and one felony count for unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The arrest is a result of FDLE’s statewide initiative to locate and arrest criminal soliciting children for a sexual relationship online and sharing files depicting the sexual abuse of children.

The investigation began in Feb. 2023 when the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office requested FDLE to assist in a runaway child investigation. Agents learned that a juvenile victim had been contacted by a suspect though social media. On multiple occasions, the suspect arranged for the minor to be transported to his residence in Land O’ Lakes where he had sex with her.

Through investigative, forensic and analytical operations, agents identified Durshimer to be the suspect. FDLE agents, with the assistance of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, arrested Durshimer on March 19. He was transported to the Pasco County Jail and booked on a $65,000 bond.

This case is being prosecuted by the Attorney General James Uthmeier's Office of Statewide Prosecution.

The case is being investigated by the FDLE Brooksville Field Office, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
