GRETNA, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) announces the arrest of Tamarick Dechawn Jackson, 18, of Sneads, on one count of each first-degree murder and grand theft of a motor vehicle. Jackson is charged with the murder of a Gretna man last month.

The investigation began on May 9 after the Gretna Police Department (GPD) received a call reporting a deceased man outside of a residence. GPD responded and requested FDLE’s investigative and forensic services. The victim, identified as Barry Corker, Jr., was found shot outside of the home.

The joint FDLE-GPD investigation identified Jackson as the suspect, and FDLE obtained an arrest warrant for him. Jackson turned himself in to the Gadsden County Jail on June 12, where he is being held without bond.

The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, Second Judicial Circuit.

FDLE and GPD led the investigation and the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service assisted. The case remains active.
