CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Eduardo Antonio Arango Ruiz, 69, of Cape Coral, on ten counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, second-degree felonies. This arrest is the result of FDLE’s statewide initiative to locate and arrest criminals targeting children and sharing files depicting the sexual abuse of children.

FDLE’s investigation began when agents received information from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office that a user on a peer-to-peer file-sharing website was downloading files depicting child sexual abuse. That user was later identified as Arango Ruiz.

On Aug. 12, FDLE agents conducted a search warrant of Arango Ruiz’s residence and located a device containing files depicting child sexual abuse.

Arango Ruiz was arrested on Aug. 18 and was transported to the Lee County Jail.

Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution is prosecuting the case.

The investigation remains active.
