PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Coconut Creek Police Department arrested Oscar Daniel Rojas Garcia, 39, on 14 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, one count of transmission of child sexual abuse material and one count of peddling child sexual abuse material. Rojas Garcia is an illegal alien from Mexico and is currently under removal proceedings.
The investigation began when the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received seven cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Detectives from the Coconut Creek Police Department identified Rojas Garcia as the person who was downloading files depicting the sexual abuse of children, along with files depicting the sexual abuse of animals. The investigation also revealed Rojas Garcia was uploading self-produced images, such as photos of himself wearing women's underwear.
During the course of the investigation, Rojas Garcia changed his residence from the City of Coconut Creek to Palm Beach County. Since he was no longer under the jurisdiction of the Coconut Creek Police Department, FDLE was contacted to help locate Rojas Garcia in Palm Beach County.
On Aug. 1, FDLE agents and South Florida ICAC Task Force investigators arrested Rojas Garcia in Palm Beach County and seized two electronic devices. Rojas Garcia was transported to the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Broward County.
The Office of the State Attorney, 17th Judicial Circuit, is prosecuting the case.
The investigation remains active.
