TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is hosting a free two-day training program designed to equip mental health clinicians with the skills to effectively support law enforcement officers.
The training, scheduled for Sept. 30th and Oct. 1st in Fort Pierce, will provide participants with evidence-based modalities and real-world scenarios. This course is tailored for mental health clinicians at the master's and doctoral levels who are interested in providing counseling services to law enforcement personnel.
FDLE Deputy Commissioner Matt Walsh said, “This innovative training is a valuable resource for mental health professionals who want to make a positive impact in the lives of our law enforcement officers.  The course helps clinicians better understand the trauma an officer experiences over a lifetime.”
The training uses peer-reviewed literature on trauma and real-world experiences. To register, clinicians can contact FDLE Wellness Chief Patrick Crough at PatrickCrough@fdle.state.fl.us.
