PERRY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Michael Ashton Schiffhauer, 22, of Perry, on 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The investigation began in October after FDLE agents received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) alerting agents that an online account user was sharing child sexual exploitation files. The investigation identified Schiffhauer as the user.
On Nov.7 agents served an arrest and search warrant at Schiffhauer’s residence. He was taken into custody and agents seized his electronic communication devices for forensic analysis.
Schiffhauer was booked into the Taylor County Jail on Nov. 7. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, Third Judicial Circuit.
The case is being investigated by the FDLE Tallahassee cybercrime unit. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) are assisting in the investigation.
