PONCE DE LEON, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) yesterday arrested Aubrey Ammons, 80, of Ponce De Leon, on 10 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.
The investigation began on May 15 when FDLE received multiple National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) cybertips alerting agents to one user uploading files showing the sexual abuse of children. The investigation identified Ammons as the user.
Agents served a search warrant on Ammons’s residence on July 23 and seized multiple electronic devices. A forensic preview located numerous files depicting children being sexually abused.
The case is being investigated by FDLE’s Panama City Field Office and FDLE’s Pensacola Regional Operations Center. The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest.
Ammons was booked into the Holmes County Jail. Additional charges are dependent upon completion of forensic exams. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 14th Judicial Circuit.
