HOLLYWOOD, Fla -- Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested William Vincent Sherwood, 73, of 129 Northwest 4th Avenue, Dania, Florida on one count of grand theft and two counts of falsifying records, related to the submission of false campaign treasurer reports.

On April 14, Linda Pane Sherwood reported the theft of her campaign funds to the Hollywood Police Department (HPD).  Linda Sherwood, a City of Hollywood Commissioner, alleged that her then-husband, William Sherwood, had stolen nearly $7,000.00 from her campaign account. William Sherwood was listed on the campaign account as Linda Sherwood’s campaign treasurer.

On April 21, HPD referred this investigation to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.  The investigation revealed that William Sherwood withdrew close to $7,000.00 from Linda Sherwood’s campaign accounts without her knowledge or consent, most of which were cash withdrawals.  William Sherwood failed to report most of these cash withdrawals in monthly campaign treasurer reports in February 2016 and March 2016.

FDLE agents arrested Sherwood yesterday and he was booked into the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 17th Judicial Circuit.
