FDLE Agent involved in a shooting incident

 
ORLANDO, Fla. – A Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent was involved in a shooting incident at his residence last night, when he interrupted several suspected burglars in his driveway.
 
Around 1:20 am, the agent discovered two men breaking into a vehicle parked in his driveway.  During his attempt to take the suspects into custody, the agent fired three rounds from his department-issued firearm.  The agent was subsequently able to take one of the subjects into custody while the other subject fled on foot.  No one was injured during the incident.      
 
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence and charged Darius Walker, 21, of 13417 Utah Woods Court, Orlando, FL with one count of burglary of a conveyance.  The second suspect remains at large. 
 
The FDLE Office of Executive Investigations, based out of FDLE Headquarters in Tallahassee, will be leading the investigation of this use of force incident.  The agent has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation of the incident is conducted.
