TAMPA, Fla. - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Office of Executive Investigations yesterday arrested Anthony Leonardo, 35, 1404 Jumana Loop, Apollo Beach, Fla. on one count of uttering forged instruments.

In January 2014, the Florida Department of Management Services entered into a contractual agreement with Building Maintenance of America.  As part of the contractual agreement, Leonardo had a “Letter of Credit” in the amount of $1,051,000 delivered to DMS via UPS from Bank of America.  Upon receipt of the document, DMS contacted Bank of America and discovered the document was not authentic.

Once the fraud was discovered, DMS contacted FDLE to initiate an investigation.  During the course of the investigation, inspectors determined that Leonardo fraudulently uttered the false “Letter of Credit” utilizing a valid Bank of America account that did not belong to him, fraudulent signatures and a fraudulent UPS account that did not belong to Bank of America.

Leonardo was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
