Florida AMBER Plan
In 2000, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), along with our state, local and private partners, developed a plan to establish the Florida AMBER Alert. The AMBER Alert provides law enforcement with a tool to quickly and effectively notify the public of critical information regarding a child who has been abducted and is endangered.
In 2003, FDLE also established the Missing Child Alert. This alert can be used when a child is missing and law enforcement has reason to believe that their life is in danger, but there is no indication that the child has been abducted.
Together these tools provide Florida’s residents and visitors with information that can help to save the life of a child and help to keep their communities safe.
