Law Enforcement planning pill mill strategy for the next 12 months

It’s been nearly a year since the inception of Florida’s Statewide Drug Enforcement Strike Force (RDESF).  Teams throughout Florida are meeting in Orlando to plan a statewide strategy to fight pill mills for the next 12 months and share best practices learned from the past 11 months.   The meeting began this morning and will run through noon Friday.

“There is no question these strike force teams have made a difference fighting Florida pill mills,” said Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey.  “Working together is key and this conference will help us assess where we’ve been and where we are headed.”

Strike force members attending the conference represent every Florida region, the Florida Attorney General’s Office and the Florida Department of Health. Representatives from seven states and as far away as Vermont are attending to learn about what we are doing in Florida.
In the last 11 months almost a half million pharmaceutical pills have been taken off Florida streets by the RDESF.
