Brevard Child Abduction Response Team to conduct mock exercise

12/9/2014

Multiple local, state and federal law enforcement agencies from Brevard County will be participating in a mock child abduction exercise on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014.

The exercise is designed to measure the response of the Brevard County CART members, evaluate communication protocols, leads tracking systems, command post operations, and search and rescue efforts in the event of a child abduction. The exercise will aid in improving the overall function of the Brevard County CART for any future activations.  The goal is to prepare the team to quickly respond when a child is abducted or is missing under suspicious circumstances.

The exercise will begin at the Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Fla. at 10 a.m.  Media representatives are invited to cover the event and will have the opportunity to access the resources being deployed during the mock child abduction including: investigative, forensics, mounted posse, water recovery, and K-9 resources.  The unified command post of the Brevard County CART exercise will conduct operations at the fairgrounds just south of the stadium and the media will be able to acquire footage of or photograph the events as they unfold.

Media representatives covering the exercise should report to the field just south of the Space Coast Stadium located at 5800 Stadium Parkway, Viera, Fla. at 10 a.m. on Dec. 10, 2014. FDLE Brevard Field Office Resident Agent in Charge (RAC) John L. King will be available to assist the media.

Residents near the location may notice an increased law enforcement presence on Dec. 10, 2014. Media outlets are asked to issue advance notice to the public about the upcoming exercise.
