Escaped inmates captured

 
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, along with the Bay County Sheriff's Office, Panama City Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force arrested escaped inmates Charles Walker and Joseph Jenkins, both 34. The fugitives were found at Coconut Grove Motor Inn around 6:40 p.m. EST Saturday October 19, 2013 and apprehended without incident.


During the course of the investigation, information was developed leading investigators to the Bay County area and an interview with an associate helped pinpoint their location.
The inmates were taken into custody without incident and are being questioned tonight. They were transported to the Bay County Jail where they will await extradition.

Inmate Charles Walker, 34, was serving life without the possibility of parole on a 2nd degree murder conviction from Orange County. He escaped from Franklin Correctional Institution on October 8, 2013 after the Department of Corrections received fraudulent release documents from the Clerk of Court.

Inmate Joseph Jenkins, 34, was serving a life without the possibility of parole on a 1st degree murder conviction from Orange County. He escaped from Franklin Correctional Institution on September 27, 2013 after the Department of Corrections received fraudulent release documents from the Clerk of Court.
