Suspect arrested in Saturday morning shooting

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that at approximately 9:30 AM on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an individual alleging he had been shot and was at his residence on Georgetown Road.  MCSO deputies and emergency medical services personnel immediately responded to 600 SW Georgetown Road and confirmed the subject had been shot. The subject was identified as Brandon Smith, 27. Officers on scene secured the area and the victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Tallahassee Regional Operations Center assisted in processing the crime scene and is providing investigative assistance to the MCSO Criminal Investigation Division. Special agents with the FDLE Tallahassee Regional Operations Center and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division developed information identifying the suspect responsible for the shooting. The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team assisted in the execution of the arrest and search warrants.  Shayon Quartez Davis, 18, 305 Happy Drive, Madison, Fla., was arrested at his residence without further incident on charges of attempted murder and armed burglary with assault.

The victim remains hospitalized in stable, but serious condition.
