Former Palm Beach County Deputy Clerk of the Court Arrested for Official Misconduct

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) today arrested Shvonne Butler, 27, of Lake Worth, charging her with 22 counts of official misconduct for altering electronic court traffic records that resulted in favorable outcomes for her friends and some family members. Butler is a former deputy clerk of the court for Palm Beach County, and worked in the Delray Beach office.

The investigation began in August 2009 after the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office discovered the discrepancies during an internal audit and requested FDLE’s assistance.
The investigation determined that on 22 occasions, Butler altered electronic ticket records which resulted in the non-payment of traffic fines and the non-suspension of driver’s licenses.   Butler was terminated from her position prior to the FDLE investigation.
Butler was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. The State Attorney’s Office, 15th Judicial Circuit, will prosecute this case.
